Joe Schabel, President, Alexandria Plastics
As president of Alexandria Plastics responsible for everything from operations and sales to purchasing and employees, Joe Schabel has a knack for growing business from start-up to full-scale operations. Through his in-depth knowledge of plastic injection and foam molding trends and issues, Schabel helps generate creative solutions to solve customers’ problems so they can be even more successful.
Schabel’s insight and vision has enabled him to grow Alexandria Plastics’ customers twenty-fold in just five years. As a result, he has led the expansion of the company’s manufacturing space from 8,000 to 30,000 square feet and added 12 new injection-molding presses.
Prior to taking the helm at Alexandria Plastics, Schabel served as project manager for Great Plains Plastic Molding in Fargo, N.D., before his promotion to plant manager after six months. At Great Plains, he was responsible for all facility operations and employees, working steadily to be completely customer-focused and achieve 100 percent customer satisfaction.
Schabel attended Alexandria Technical & Community College, completing a two-year degree in manufacturing engineering. He then earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology from Moorhead State University in northwest Minnesota.
Schabel enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, motorcycling, snowmobiling, and overall enjoying the great outdoors. He believes, "life is what you make of it. Have a good attitude, be passionate about the things you do and you will find happiness and fulfillment." He would like to be known as a hard worker, a respectful person and someone that people enjoy being around.
