The United Way Food Drop

Lack of access to adequate and nutritious food has serious implications ‒ developmental, physical, mental, behavioral and social ‒ for individuals of all ages. The United Way Mobile Food Drop helps negate the impact by offering monthly distribution of nearly 20,000 pounds of food to residents of Douglas County.

In May, the employees of Alexandria Industries from our Alexandria, Minn., facilities donated both their money and time to support the United Way Mobile Food Drop. Working together, we raised nearly $3,000 to cover the cost of the food that was donated to approximately 170 local area residents and their families who needed help.

In addition to this, approximately 30 employees spent part of an afternoon helping sort, organize and hand out the food. The United Way organizers said this was the best run food drop since they started hosting this event.

Our employees are truly making a difference in the lives of so many people.
