Alexandria Industries’ Plastics Facility Achieves ISO 9001:2008 Certification; Adds New Injection-Molding Presses

Alexandria Industries today announced that its Wheaton, Minn., Plastics facility has received the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 certification. The achievement recognizes the well-defined and documented quality management processes and procedures for continual improvement that Alexandria Industries has implemented across its organization.

“When we created our five-year vision in 2012, one of our goals included ISO certification,” said Al Sholts, chief operations officer, Alexandria industries. “We remain diligent about integrating ISO quality management principles at all of our facilities, and this is one more achievement in the process. We want our customers and stakeholders to know that our nonstop focus on delivering the best possible value is not just a one-time effort but a continuous improvement approach to quality service and production.”

To support ISO 9001:2008 certification, a team of dedicated employees participated in the rigorous months-long evaluation and improvement process for Alexandria Plastics facility’s quality management system.

“We want to assure our customers we are doing everything possible to provide the highest possible quality processes and products, and our ISO 9001:2008 certification validates this,” said Joe Schabel, president, Alexandria Plastics.

Alexandria Plastics Adds Two New Plastic Injection Molding Presses
Another improvement at Alexandria Plastics includes the addition of two new TMC E-series injection-molding presses. The new machines will not only add capacity and the ability to accommodate more advanced part features, they also provide better process control and tighter tolerances, while reducing lead times by up to 50 percent.

“We are experiencing progressive business growth and were nearing capacity with our current equipment,” said Schabel. “The new presses offer us the ability to make parts faster, with higher accuracy. The embedded smart technology and advanced process control system will allow the presses to virtually run themselves.”
