A Passion for Community

Living Our Values

Alexandria Industries' commitment to our core values and the behaviors that support those values, has never been more evident than when we watch our employees give to the causes that are important to them. Our employees are glad to support local non-profit agencies through financial contributions and by giving of their time.

In 2014, we launched a Volunteer Time Policy at our extrusion facility in Alexandria that offers employees the opportunity to take up to eight hours of paid time off per year to perform volunteer service for a local non-profit, tax-exempt organization, or other preapproved effort.

So far this year, 78 of our Alexandria-area employees have contributed more than 400 hours of service to 24 different organizations, including the United Way's Mobile Food Drops, the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, and the Habitat for Humanity organization. They have served meals for veterans, donated blood, worked on projects at their church, and volunteered at the local schools. They also helped with yard work for an injured employee and supported a local 4-H dog project, among countless other events.

It is through their efforts that we begin to understand and appreciate all the good that our employees are doing to help others when given the opportunity. We are excited that so many of them continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

After seeing such huge success with our volunteer policy, we have expanded it to the employees at all of our locations. We look forward to seeing their volunteering efforts spread and take hold in their surrounding communities.

With approximately 560 employees, we have the ability to give more than 4,500 hours of service among many opportunities to make a difference!
