Trading Places

At Alexandria Industries, we focus on living our corporate values by creating a “can-do” kind of culture. It is through relying on our faith and integrity that we work at creating a healthy culture focused on mutual respect, commitment to excellence and employee well-being.

This is evident to the people who visit us. Once visitors have a chance to see our facilities, meet our people and watch us work, a high percentage of them become customers, employees, business partners and life-long friends.

We realized that our can-do culture – established over our 50 years of business in Alexandria – presented us with a great opportunity where we could share our behaviors and work philosophies among all of our facilities.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, we created a training program offering many of our Alexandria and Indianapolis employees the chance to trade work places. Our Indy colleagues came to Alexandria eager to understand our best practices in extrusion, customer service and personal work philosophies. Likewise, our Alexandria colleagues went to Indianapolis to show the employees the way we do things in Alexandria. The training exchange program generated consistency in best practices across our facilities.

The press equipment upgrades made at our Indianapolis facility presented us with the perfect opportunity to create a training exchange program where employees from our Alexandria and Indianapolis facilities traded places and learned best practices from each other.

Thanks to the many efforts of our employees who committed themselves to making this happen, we have seen production improvements and new efficiencies occur at our Indianapolis facility.

Along the way, we also have seen employees bring their efforts to another level by taking on new roles and more responsibility. A few long-term Alexandria employees, for example, made the decision to relocate to our Indianapolis facility. Graduates of Leadership Academy – our custom training program that includes leadership education, one-on-one coaching and practical application – they were eager to take on new challenges.

It is certainly because of all of our dedicated employees that we are able to celebrate our can-do culture while also developing mutually beneficial, life-long relationships.

If you have interest in learning about our Leadership Academy or employee-exchange training programs, feel free to contact us. We are more than happy to share the things that may help our customers be even more successful.

Give us a call today if you would like to visit any of our facilities or have questions about our aluminum extrusion and many other manufacturing services.
